Illuminating thoughts and opinions such as this marked the session on ‘Business Education As A Means To Professional Success’ by Dr Uttiyo Raychaudhuri, Vice-Provost for Internationalization at University of Denver, USA. Held on 23rd June, 2021, as a part of the Virtual Pre-Orientation Programme of Jaipuria School of Business titled PRARAMBH – JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE, the session kicked off with an apt statement by the key speaker. He said, ‘Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.’
During the course of the online session, Dr. Raychaudhuri touched upon a number of important points about business education being a strong force in carving out a long-lasting career. Business education, he said, creates strong fundamentals in an individual. It fosters an understanding of ethics and cultural diversity, apart from promoting perseverance and life skills that are so essential to succeed in professional life.
The exclusive purpose of JSB’s Pre-Orientation Programme is to acquaint the students of PGDM Batch 2021-23 with the business school and the corporate realities.
For these students, Dr. Raychaudhuri had valuable advice.
He told the students to be wise in their selection of the college and the PGDM specialization, keeping in mind all that an individual seeks to gain from higher education.
He concluded the session with the statement that ‘Leadership entails conviction, persistence and the right moral compass.’

He started his talk with the question ‘Why are you here? Mr.Rangaswamy emphasized on one of the important skills which every manager should possess is Decision making. As a coach himself, he described the importance of a coach and mentor in everybody’s life who can guide and instill the right set of work ethics, values, perspectives, and self-leadership skills for a successful career path.
JSB Pre-Orientation Programme Commenceswith Insights from Academia and Industry
PRARAMBH – JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE, the Virtual Pre-Orientation Programme for PGDM Batch 2021-23 of Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, commenced on Thursday, June 10, with lots of valuable insights from academics and industry experts.
The Inauguration Ceremony, held online, started off with the welcome address by Dr Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Director, Jaipuria School of Business. In his address, Dr Mishra welcomed the guests and students of the new PGDM batch and he highlighted the importance of ‘collaboration and upskilling’ as the key skills of budding managers.
Mr Vinod Malhotra, Advisor to Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, was the Guest of Honour and he shared pertinent insights on personal well-being, happiness. He emphasised upon the Design Thinking model for problem-solving in the 21st century.
The Inauguration Ceremony’s Chief Guest, Dr Himanshu Rai, Director IIM, Indore, began his address with a Paul Volcker quote and emphasized on the need for introspection in every individual’s life. He said teachers are lifelong learners who bear the great responsibility of educating young generations. Dr Rai’s advice to the students was, “Do not fall into the trap of fears” and “Do what you love to do or what makes you happy.”
Dr Rai reserved the strongest message of his speech for the females attending the session. He told them, “You have to take charge of your own decisions. No one else in your life should do that.”
The good vibes that the Inaugural Ceremony created were visible to the students of the PGDM 2021-23 batch of Jaipuria School of Business. Some of the students voiced their expectations from the business school and they also laid out their dreams, goals and ambitions.
Dr Timira Shukla, Dean, proposed the vote of thanks to bring the Inaugural Ceremony to a close.

Students of PGDM Batch 2021-23 at Jaipuria School of Business are set to embark on a two-year-long journey to academic excellence with the Pre-Orientation Programme, slated to begin on June 10, Thursday.
Titled PRARAMBH – JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE, the VirtualPre-Orientation Programme is a great opportunity for new students to get to know the institution and also gain valuable insights from the experts in the corporate world for a successful start to their business education.
An Inaugural Ceremony, to be held online from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm on June 10, will officially kick off the pre-orientation programme. It will feature special addresses by Dr Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Director of JSB, Mr. Vinod Malhotra, Advisor to Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, and Dr Himanshu Rai, Director – IIM, Indore, who is also the Chief Guest for the ceremony.
The inauguration will be followed by three weekly lectures by industry experts. The first of these sessions will take place on June 12. It will have Mr Colin Mendes, Head of Human Resource, Voltas Beko, delivering an hour-long talk on ‘Charting Out A Winning Career’.
On June 16, Mr Achal Rangaswamy, CEO at Achal Rangaswamy the Coach, will talk about ‘Going Beyond The Uncharted Landscape’ to enlighten students about the great possibilities that lie ahead in their corporate journey.
In the following week, on June 26, Ms Annu Singh, Deputy Director Sector CGF PepsiCo, will share her insights on ‘Resilience – A Key To Success’. The pertinence of this topic has already been well established in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Scheduled alongside these lectures over a period of three weeks will be a number of internal events, such as interaction with alumni, assignments, presentations, and an online quiz to prepare the students for the PGDM course at Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad.

JSB in collaboration with Amazing Workplaces organized ‘RACHNA’ a National Article Writing Competition on the Theme ‘Future of Work; Recreating the work & Workplace, on 29th of May 2021. RACHNA was an opportunity for all the students, to showcase their talent by articulating their thoughts and explore their writing skills. The event was announced on the 28th of April 2021, the last date for submission of the article was the 15th of May 2021. We received more than 160 articles from reputed Universities and Colleges Pan India, a few to name; Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, KIIT, Fore School of Management, IIM Indore, etc. Under the guidance of, Evaluation committee, 15 best articles were selected for the presentation on the 29th of May 2021. The event began with the Inaugural session, where the Director, Dr.Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Congratulated the participants, and the organizing team, for the success of the event. A panel of three members; Dr.U.MAmin, (Professor Marketing JSB) Dr.Timira Shukla (Dean Academics, JSB), and Ms.Ekta Capoor (Co-Founder of Amazing Workplaces) assessed the participants. The competition was constructive where each Participant presented, his/her views about the theme, and countered the questions raised by the Panelists. The event was concluded by the closing remarks from Ms.Ekta Capoor; and the announcement of the winners for the competition.
A knowledge-sharing session on Commodity Derivatives for students of PGDM- 2020-2022 was conducted on March 23rd , 2021 (2-3:30 pm) by Mr. Vinit Singh Kaler, Training Education, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. He interacted with students on commodity derivatives markets, the instruments traded, hedging and functions of commodity exchanges with LIVE Market screen. This would be followed by Question and Answer session.
International Women’s Day was celebrated at JSB to honor womanhood and the strong spirit of women. It commenced with the address by the Director, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra where he elaborated on the numerous roles played by a woman and how she is excelling in all the avenues. The students performed some cultural programs which brought smiles to the faces of every individual present in the auditorium. To mark the culmination of the event and celebrate the sportsmanship spirit of women few outdoor games were organised for the students and employees.
Jaipuria School of Business believes in the holistic development of the student and accordingly creates opportunities for exposure of students to activities for learning beyond the classroom. In this series of learning by debates and deliberations, a Debate Competition was organized on the Topic ‘Agri Reforms 2020; Boon or Bane for farmers’ on 29th January 2021. It offered the students an opportunity to develop opinions and arguments on critical issues. The Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of students.
